Kia ora!
I’m Mark Darbyshire, a theatre and film actor, comedian, and senior analyst living in Ōtautahi Christchurch – the largest city of the South Island in Aotearoa New Zealand. I chair a body corporate and am part of various committees and community groups. I strongly believe in the need to strive for a progressive, caring, inclusive society that remedies the injustices of the past while building a sustainable future.
I’m co-founder of The Sensationalist. We have opened a pop-up shop selling vegan shoes, gender-diverse blazers, and bespoke suits.
I’m always open to new creative opportunities, data projects, community initiatives, career opportunities, or anything else you think may be of interest!
Opinions on this website are my own, and don’t reflect my employer or the organisations I work with.

I reluctantly exist on the usual social networks (see below) but I would much rather you follow me in The Fediverse – I’m @mark@tech.lgbt on Mastodon.
Why? Because communication and social connection need to transcend the boundaries of any one company. The internet was designed for people to communicate regardless of which service providers they use. Websites like Facebook and Twitter are trying to kill this open internet by building their own walled gardens – but we can force them to relinquish their ironclad grip on our communities by embracing decentralised social media.
